Services

Our team of therapists include psychologists, social workers and specialist mental health occupational therapists.  These clinicians are each trained to address different clients needs and have different interest areas.

Medicare Referrals

Wellness on the Lane welcomes referrals from general practitioners and specialists (usually psychiatrists or paediatricians).   To access our psychologist services we require a referral letter, outlining the specific number of approved sessions from your GP.  Valid referrals must be dated within the last 12 months, and state the referring doctors provider number.  These referrals do not have to be specifically made to Wellness on the Lane or a specific clinician here and are fully transferable.

Medicare referrals do not provide free sessions, but rather enable clients to access rebates for services. Rebates vary between types of clinicians so speak with our lovely reception team for details on your specific rebates. New GP referrals support individuals to access initially 6 subsidised appointments.  Following these, your clinician can write to your GP and receive a review of your care plan for approval of up to a further 4 appointments as the maximum number of appointments per year is 10.

If you do not use all 6 in one calendar year, these carry over to the following year and again, a review can support a further block of sessions (up to 6 at a time) with a maximum of 10 per calendar year.  Unfortunately, the rules of Medicare do not allow GPs to refer immediately for more than 6 sessions.

Following these appointments, clients attending without valid referral or review, or beyond your allocated sessions per year, full payment for sessions will be required.

Whilst it may seem complicated (and we too sometimes think so), our friendly team will work with you to access the right information at the right time for seamless access to services.

Dept of Veterans Affairs

Wellness on the Lane welcomes psychology and psychiatry clients who are supported by the Department of Veterans Affairs who have been issued white or gold cards.

The DVA do not require details of your diagnosis nor does care have to focus on injury or illness during time inthe service.   To access these services, we will require a referral from your General Practitioner and your DVA card number (and colour).

DVA referrals are valid for a cycle of care, which is listed as 12 appointments.  After these 12 appointments, your GP or specialist (psychiatrist) can refer for another cycle.  There is no maximum number of sessions you can access each year or number of referrals you can access in a lifetime.  Approval for sessions is based on clinical need and discussion with your clinician and referring doctor.  Wellness on the Lane follows the DVA schedule of services which is available on the DVA website.

Wellness on the Lane thanks you for your commitment and sacrifices.

Telehealth

Typically, our appointments are offered in person at the clinic, however, since the COVID-19 pandemic, the Australian government has opened the possibility of engaging with our clinical staff via Telehealth. Our team can now continue therapies when you cannot make it in person.

We are pleased to offer these appointments by phone or secure video connection via our Powerdiary Practice Management Software. You can read more about Power Diary's Security Privacy and Compliance measures on their website. A customised Telehealth URL is designated to your clinical file, allowing easy one click access for appointments. There is no special apps or devices required

To access telehealth consultations you will need access to a quiet, private space; and the appropriate device, i.e. smartphone, laptop, iPad, computer, with a camera, microphone and speakers; and a reliable internet connection.  Your practitioner will consider and discuss with you the appropriateness of ongoing telehealth sessions.

NDIS Referrals

Wellness on the Lane welcomes clients who are supported by the National Disability Insurance Scheme.  Currently, we are only able to support those who are self-managed or plan-managed and we proactively liaise with numerous NDIS supporting agencies for collaborative and holistic outcomes for clients.

Self or plan managed clients under NDIS do not require GP referrals, although open communication with your other supports is useful for the best outcomes.   To access our services, please provide a copy of your current NDIS plan and NDIS number, along with the name and contact details for your plan managers for invoicing purposes.  Wellness on the Lane follows the NDIS price guide which is available on the NDIS website : typically utilising capacity building funding.

Wellness has a strong belief in choice and control, pillars of NDIS policy, and collaboration and inclusiveness with our clients we are privileged to support.  Note: Academic, Cognitive and Behavioural Assessments are also available to those under NDIS funding from our team. These services may require prior approval of funding via plan managers.

Worksafe will at times require documentation from your practitioner as to treatment progress and these reports will be provided (in consultation with you) throughout the course of treatment.  These interactions determine numbers of sessions and approvals.

Worksafe approval for psychology and psychiatry may also extend to family members of those involved in serious accidents or death.  This is subject to approval from your allocated case manager.

At times, reports may be requested by clients or their legal teams if court proceedings are being undertaken for conciliation.  These must be discussed with your practitioner and will incur a fee based on the APS recommended rates.
